GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE 5th EDITION (2025-2026)
The competition aims to stimulate the involvement of middle and high school students in historical research activities, encouraging them to deeply analyze how the theme of war and peace is reflected in history textbooks of the Republic of Moldova. The central objective is not only familiarization with sources and teaching content, but also the development of critical thinking skills through identifying differences in perspective, possible stereotypes or omissions, and formulating their own interpretations. Participants will explore events and personalities from national and world history, connected to local history and their own biography — their hometown, the community they belong to.
The works produced will stimulate reflection on fundamental human values — peace, cooperation, solidarity, progress — and will give students the opportunity to express their own original and well-argued point of view. The competition seeks to offer young people the chance to make use of lesser-known local sources, to combine historical research with artistic creativity, and to transform the results into a powerful visual message addressed to their generation.
At the time of submission, April 15, 2026, participants must fall into one of the following two categories:
- Middle school students (9th grade).
- High school students (10th-12th grades), including students from colleges and vocational schools.
The submitted works may take the form of a research project:
- INDIVIDUAL – the work will have a single author.
- GROUP – a maximum of 5 persons may form a research group and be listed as co-authors.
The research may be written in Romanian, English, or Russian and must be uploaded to the project platform concursistoric.upsc.md in PDF format (texts) and MP4 format (audio, video).
Each work must obligatorily mention only the TITLE. The title must not repeat the contest’s general theme, but should instead refer to the specific subject or event researched. To ensure confidentiality and objectivity in evaluation, the author’s name (or authors’ names), the institution, and the supervisor’s name must not appear on the work itself.
EACH WORK must be submitted together with a PARTICIPANT FORM, to be completed as a Google Questionnaire, which will include the following information:
- Title (name of the work)
- Name of the author(s)
- Email address and phone number of the author(s)
- Institution, locality, grade/class
- Name of the supervisor (teacher)
- Email address of the supervisor
To access the form, each participant must use their own email address or create one (preferably on the @gmail.com portal) if they do not already have one.
All registered participants in the competition will be encouraged and acknowledged through the awarding of participation diplomas, as recognition of their involvement in historical research and in promoting civic values.
To reward excellence, the jury will select the top 15 projects, which will be ranked as I, II, III places, and Mentions, based on the quality of research, originality of approach, rigor of argumentation, and relevance of the topic. These works will be awarded with distinctions, educational materials, and symbolic prizes, intended to encourage the continuation of research and active involvement in community life.
The most valuable works will be publicly promoted through publication on the official contest page, distribution on social media, and inclusion in the international Eustory Network.
We look forward to seeing you in the Competition!
